Azurite is a soft, deep-blue copper mineral produced by the weathering of copper ore deposits.  The mineral is a basic carbonate and has been known since ancient times.  It has been used as a pigment in the past, and today is used in jewelry making and is prized by collectors due to its brilliant colors.

NOTE:  The item photographed is similar to the one you will receive.  These specimens are approximately 2" in length, and weigh approximately 1.0 ounce each. Country of Origin: People's Republic of the Congo.
